Your first step is to contact Fury Design to set up an initial Design Consultation. During our consultation, we will discuss the feasibility of your plan, to include planning requirements, project size, existing conditions, and the proposed architectural style you desire. In addition, we will spend time sketching rough ideas to capture the look and feel you desire for your space. Following our consultation, we will provide you with a formal proposal with the architectural services we discussed.
During the Design Process, we begin by identifying and defining the new space you seek to create for your home. We do this by taking the time to carefully evaluate and discuss the relationships between your spaces, and the desired use of the space, to better capture the intention of your design.
We now begin reviewing the site design and feasibility, to include land use restrictions, views, site conditions, viable schematic plans, and the suitability of a parcel of land before purchasing. In addition, measurements are taken of existing homes to produce as-built plans and elevations. Following this, we do a complete home examination, reviewing zoning restrictions, soil conditions, environmental issues, and views of the property. This thorough examination allows us to produce a unique design that fulfills your wishes and expectations.
During this phase, we use a combination of free hand sketching, 3D models and animation to create perspective and realistic visualization. We spend time looking at different layouts, styles, and materials, to create an image that reflects the look and feel that our client desires.
The spatial relationship between the interior and exterior plans are further explored and refined. The exterior surfaces and materials are designed with architectural detail, creating a finished visual of the exterior of the house. A preliminary estimate from the contractor can be requested at this stage, if preliminary engineering has been developed.
A set of technical drawings are prepared and submitted to the contractors and the Building Department for the permit application. The drawings include clearly identified plan and elevations and details to create a comprehensive building summary. In addition, interior elevation drawings are often included to help guide the design of windows, cabinets, staircases, etc.
The construction phase is closely monitored with the client to assure the interior and exterior design process is being accurately executed. Each stage of construction requires architectural knowledge to foresee potential issues and solutions to create unison between the design and the construction.
Our team will assist you in reviewing contractors that best compliment the quality, budget and schedule of your project. Contractor bidding will begin during the Design Development phase and often continues through the Construction Document phase. Our experienced team has had the opportunity to work with highly qualified residential contractors and sub-contractors, creating positive relationships and an end goal of creating the best homes for our clients.
In order to submit final documents for a building permit, several professional services are required, including a Structural Engineer, Soil Engineer, Land Surveyor, and HVAC professional. We are able to help with the selection process as well as provide references for each of these services. Our team will coordinate their drawings and calculations and issue to the contractor for permit submittal.
