Victorian Painted Lady

2300 sf.

A classic 1890’s Victorian had a lean to bathroom, with a unusable attic above. Inside the house a small kitchen combined with the basement stairs made an awkward house with no garage to park a car.

An elegant 2 story brick addition of a spacious family room and a  master bedroom above leading out on to a south facing balcony with city views. An attached garage with matching gable roof provides a backdrop for the brick courtyard. The refinished kitchen with a white marble island opens into the new family room through a historic arched brick doorway and window connecting the old to the new addition. The remaining doorways and windows are finished in handcrafted trim work is to match existing house. A new basement below provides recreation room/bedroom for a growing family.

The brickwork was carefully rebuilt by masons using salvaged brick from a matching 1900’s house. Finally, the painted gables above the brick were intricately cut and crafted with cedar shingles to unify the house.
